GREENZONE® INSECT BARRIER (GIB)

Adhesive Back

The easy to use adhesive back makes the installation of GREENZONE® quick and simple (find out more below)

Termiticide

GREENZONE® patented technology, acts as a barrier to termites and other pests (find out more below).

Expansion Joint Foam

GREENZONE® can be used in a number of different applications in the control of expansion and contraction of concrete elements (find out more below)

GREENZONE® is a polyethylene expansion gap flexible foam containing Bifenthrin to act as a barrier to termites, black ant and cockroaches. Bifenthrin is a pyrethroid insecticide and termiticide, a 4th generation pyrethroid, which is virtually insoluble in water (with a solubility of only 0.1 mg/l) and the longest residual termiticide currently registered on the market. Bifenthrin is a product used worldwide and is common in pesticides and termiticides – safety data is readily available (see SDS/MSDS for further information)

The manufacture of the GREENZONE® product uses an extrusion process. The process combines bifenthrin with a closed cell, cross-linked polyethylene material. As a result of the extrusion process, once the GREENZONE® product has dried it is impossible for the bifenthrin to leach out or degrade.

DESCRIPTION

GREENZONE® Insect Barrier is an innovative, patented, closed cell, cross-linked, 100% polyethylene foam expansion joint and space filler strip containing Bifenthrin to act as a barrier against termites, black ant and cockroaches.

Residential Uses Commercial Uses

GREENZONE® - THE SOLUTION

GREENZONE® is an insect and termite barrier technology which integrates a compressible foam substrate with bifenthrin (see picture below) creating significant savings in labour and materials to install a combined termite repellent and compressible foam layer.  The core innovation is the integration of a termite repellent into expansion joint foam which can be applied to all elements of construction that require a termite barrier in order to comply with Australian Standard AS3660 – 2000, Termite Management, Parts 1 & 3.

WHY USE GREENZONE®?

GREENZONE® is an insect and termite barrier technology which integrates a compressible foam substrate with a termiticide creating significant savings in labour and materials to install a combined termite repellent and compressible foam layer.

GREENZONE® provides energy efficiencies and acoustic benefits when installed as an insect barrier around windows, external doors and other penetration in the external surfaces of a building.

In the medium to longer term adopting a strategy of pest exclusion, as opposed to pest treatment, has the following additional benefits:
> Reduces the use of chemicals in the environment,
> Reduces the cost of building management by removing the need for ongoing pest management,
> Improves environmental health outcomes by preventing pest infestation in the first instance,
> Reduces loss and spoilage (for example in the food storage industry) which occurs due to pest ingress,
> Will have applications in the transport, health, hospitality and educational industries to prevent pest ingress during product (including food) storage, shipping and handling.

In termite regions, it is a blanket pre-requisite to have a termite barrier installed in order to achieve a Certificate of Occupancy. In the Northern Territory the Department of Lands Planning and the Environment provide that builders must, as a minimum, comply with the termite management requirements set out in the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
INSTALLATION

The installation of GREENZONE® Insect Barrier is made easy due to the sticky back (self-adhesive) backing. This product will stick to most surfaces, e.g. concrete, brick, timber, AAC, metal and PVC. See residential uses | See commercial uses
